In close collaboration with the show-runner and editorial team, Good Secrets
developed the complete graphics and animation language for this HBO docu-series,
strategically leveraging every visual element to best tell the team’s story.

We knew we’d been entrusted with a monumental undertaking to carry the show’s
emotional tone through the title sequence and graphics package, so we rolled up our
sleeves and got our hands dirty.

PROCESS

The U.S. Men’s National Team is scrappy, rebellious, ambitious, and gritty.
We needed their presence punctuated by a visual language that could keep up.
So we leaned into the physicality of art: scratched film, collage, and graffiti that
together create a handcrafted artifact of the team’s journey. Seventy percent hip hop,
thirty percent punk rock.

While the title sequence is our pièce de résistance,
we threaded that same ethos throughout the entire graphics package via callouts,
custom maps, game clocks, scorecards, archival footage treatments, and more.
Every spray paint splatter helps tell their story.

This project was a year-long marathon of top-tier collaboration with series creators
Rand Getlin and Janina Pelayo at Park Stories, and Creative Director Lucas Harger of Outpost.
Every element was fueled by our relentless commitment to the craft and a "tremendous amount of give-a-fuck."
